My Father was a true civil servant for the IRS for thirty years.
Unfortunately he saw the time when government employees were no longer civil servants and Godly and became liars and cowards and mentally ill.
He was personally effected by this when his boss tried to fire him - the same type of person as the Director of the Seattle FBI office and the western Washington USA.
My Father quit with his reputation intact.
He then went to work for the U.S. State Department and traveled the world advising foreign governments how to collect tax revenue honestly from their citizens.
He reported directly to the finance minister for the country.
After working for the State Department for years he retired and continued the same type of work around the world as a consultant.
My Fathers funeral handout had no mention of the above or any other of his great accomplishments.
The funeral handout had a colored picture of my Father high in the Olympic Mountains with numerous mountains close by and he is at peace and smiling.
Below this picture is the following:
"Olympic Mountains are where my mind always ends up
when I turn it loose and I will always thank your dad for tak-
along a crew of scruffy, reluctant kids for a walk in the
woods and an experience that won't fade with time.
Wherever I hike now, your dad is somewhere up the trail,
and if people I'm with say they're tired of walking I'll say

Below this is a picture of the "Scruffy Kid Hiker's", probably 7 -10 years old, smiling but tired, on top of a high mountain pass in the Olympic Mountains.
My next post will have what was on the other page of his funeral handout - it shouldn't surprise you that it is humble and spiritual.
