My first experience with Jim Whittaker was when I was just a boy.
My friend and I rode my Honda motor scooter
from Tacoma to Seattle to the original one room REI store.
Jim Whitaker helped me and I bought the best down parka he had to keep me warm riding my motor scooter.
It was made in England and very expensive.
It did keep me warm on the ride back to Tacoma.
When I got back to my friends house I unsnapped it and the snaps came right out of the fabric.
My friends mother, whose husband was a successful Tacoma businessman, told me to take it back and demand my money back.
She said he will try to cheat you but raise holy hell and don't leave to you get your money back.
Her advice was sound and I followed it and eventually got my money back.
I learned a valuable lesson in protecting myself from dishonest businessmen
Jim Whitaker tried to cheat a boy - shameful.
My next experience with Jim Whittaker was with him and Editor Katie Ives.
The most important part of my piece for Alpinist was what Jim Whittaker said about the Buddhist proverb regarding the Himalaya Mountains which was in the book Mountaineers Books published about his life.
Supposedly he sent Editor Katie Ives an email saying he didn't say this.
My piece was run without this quote and it changed my piece drastically in a non spiritual way.
Later going through my archives I found the exact quote and page number from his book..
I sent four messages to him asking him to tell Editor Ives the quote was in his book and he did not respond.
I even told him how proud my Mother was to have climbed a mountain with him when a deceased climber they knew had his ashes scattered on the mountain.
I also told him how my Great Grandfather was a well respected settler in the county where he lived and had his name on the cornerstone of the Port Townsend Courthouse.
I was unable to motivate him to respond and sadly he showed disrespect for my Mother and her Grandfather - very shameful.
I advised Editor Ives of the exact quote and page number and asked her if she could correct my online piece.
She never responded.
I suspect they were both not responding to protect each other from their lies.
This now brings me to Mountaineers Books and Jim Whittaker
Mountaineers Books published the book about his life.
Whittaker started a business selling outdoor clothing to all the major retailers.
His business was submitting fake invoices to the bank.
When the bank called Jim Whittaker in he blamed it all on his business partner and said he had no knowledge of this.
I don't believe this and believe US Attorney Thomas Wales wanted to prosecute him but was stopped because Jim Whittaker was so famous.
Assistant U S Attorney Thomas Wales was able to force Whittaker to sell most of his assets and repay the bank.
Mountaineers Books allowed Whittaker to portray himself as a helpless victim and blame everything on his partner and also slander the reputation of Assistant US Attorney Thomas Wales.
Read the book. Shameful on the part of Whittaker and Mountaineering Books.
Even his sons book published by Mountaineers Books slanders Assistant US Attorney Thomas Wales for destroying his inheritance - shameful.
Their is one truthful writing in the book, even though he is trying to slander Assistant US Attorney Thomas Wales, when he recounts how Assistant US Attorney Thomas Wales blew up at him for trying to use his fame to influence the trial.
Whittaker then goes on to slander the Federal Judge who handled the trial against his partner by saying the Judge just gave him a slap on the wrist when he was found guilty.
The judge knew that Jim Whittaker was the real criminal and he should have been the primary person on trial and found guilty.
Assistant US Attorney Thomas Wales is the only US Attorney to have ever been assassinated.
As this blog has documented he died fighting the drug scourge destroying this country.
I believe my ministry has solved this crime and has named the two organized crime figures responsible but as a Chief for the King County Sheriff told me: "every detective has their favorite suspect in a murder case."
In light of his comment and respect for his opinion - Chief Frank Adamson - the FBI took a full report from me on why it could have been Jim Whittaker and his connections with the Russians responsible for the assassination of Assistant US Attorney Thomas Wales.
Instead of writing the above about Editor Katie Ives and Jim Whittaker I could have just quoted from Revelation 22:15.
Outside the city are the dogs--
the sorcerers, the sexually immoral, the murderers, the idol
