Sailor Bob is a famous sailor and it has been my privilege that he has been my friend.
He is now in his eighties and suffering from dementia.
I found out he was taken from his sailboat to the hospital and he lost his dog and sailboat. The police officer involved in this told me he was involuntarily committed.
For five weeks I tried to find out where he was and couldn't.
I was lied to by the mayor of Poulsbo, the police chief, the marina manager, the son of the former owner of the Marina Market, and I was not allowed to talk to the former owner of the Marina Market.
They would not help me find sailor Bob.
Lieutenant Valerie helped me for five weeks and because of her help I located Bob.
Before she was promoted she had been the crisis officer and had helped Bob and been his friend.
Bob had been the victim of elder physical and elder financial abuse and Lieutenant Valerie had tried to stop the physical abuse and investigate the financial abuse.
Eventually because the people involved in this were good friends of the mayor she was ordered by the mayor and police chief to stop helping me.
Bob is doing well in a nice rest home and because of his dementia he still believes he has his sailboat moored right outside his window and his dog is being cared for.
You can't get an old sailor down.
Lieutenant Valerie deserves to be the next police chief of Poulsbo and return Poulsbo to its Scandinavian roots of honesty.
